District Plans for 2020-2021
As Beatrice Public Schools work to formulate and finalize different plans for the 2020-21 School Year based on possible Directed Health Measures, we need your input to help us address the needs of students and families. If we need to operate at a reduced capacity to meet physical distancing requirements – for example, limiting the number of K-12 students in our buildings at one time to 50 percent – we will need your feedback to help us determine how that schedule might work. We understand this could have a huge impact on families.
Beatrice Public Schools plans to have students return to school in the fall. We understand that the best learning environment for students is in a classroom with a teacher, and that is what our staff, administration, and School Board desire. Rest assured, as evidenced by the numerous parades, video messages, and communications created by our dedicated teaching staff, we want your children back in school as much as you do! It’s our calling as educators to work with kids. Simply stated, we love and miss educating them.
With that said, public health directives and requirements from local health officials and the Nebraska Department of Education will be guiding factors in this planning process. Beatrice Public Schools is leaving no stone unturned in planning a quality education next school year during this pandemic. Although no decisions are final at this time, we are focused and committed to making 2020-21 a successful year of learning with students in our buildings.
The district is continually working on the official Return to School Action Plan. Below is a component of that plan. The table below displays different levels (tiers). The intended definition of each tier has been provided below; however, the application may vary depending upon guidance from local public health officials or the Governor (issued directed health measures).

Tier II | Moderate Risk/Spread |
Tier III | High Risk/Spread |
