Community Update- October 16, 2020
We have made it to the end of the first quarter with in-person school! What a great accomplishment!
As we move forward, we are making a few changes in order to try to make it through the second quarter with in-person learning. We will begin the second quarter with a mask requirement for all students, no opt-out forms will be allowed. With the risk dial moving mid orange, the ICU and hospital capacity in our district becoming a critical concern, and a dramatic increase in case numbers over the last 3-5 days, there is a preponderance of evidence indicating a greater risk; therefore, BPS needs to take extra steps before we move into Tier III or IV. Please work cooperatively with us to ensure your child has a mask and is wearing it properly at school.
Currently, in our district, we have 9 active cases. There are more staff and students being tested due to COVID-19 like symptoms. Additionally, more students are being quarantined because of household cases. Out of concern for the safety of our staff and students and trying to keep everyone in school, we are requiring masks in every building. We need the entire community cooperation and support with masks in order to keep kids in school.
To start the second quarter, we will still be in-person learning (Tier II) but require all students to wear masks.
