Wilma Sawyer graduated from Chester High School in 1936. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on a Regents Scholarship receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education in 1940 and later earned her Masters Degree. Wilma devoted 42 years to teaching business and American history in Nebraska high schools. She had taught in Johnstown, NE, and Stratton, NE before starting her 37 years (1945-82) in the Beatrice High School system. She sponsored Pep Club, Student Council, and American Field Service Club. In 1978 she attended a National Education Association seminar in Russia. Wilma held al six offices for the Nebraska State Business Association and was a committed member of NEA, NSEA, BEA, and honorary organizations Delta Pi Epsilon and Delta Kappa Gamma. She has maintained contact with her former students by attending many class reunions over the years.
