Lloyd (Pop) Klein is a 1916 graduate of BHS and earned a BA degree from Cotner College. Mr. Klein was a successful football and basketball coach at Crete High School. He won the state basketball championship in 1932. After a successful stint coaching football at Kearney State, he became the #1 assistant coach at UNL in 1945. During his first year at UNL, he took over as interim head basketball coach when the head coach became sick. In 1948, he became the assistant athletic director for UNL and retired in 1965.
