Jon Appleget is a 1955 graduate of BHS. Mr.Appleget taught in the Fremont Senior High School for 38 years and served as the track and cross country coach. As the cross country coach, he won 2 state championships, 2 runner-up finishes,10 district, and 18 conference championships. He founded the Fremont Track Club in 1968 and was inducted into the Nebraska High School Hall of Fame in 1998. In April of 2001, Fremont Public Schools named its Track & Field Facility as Appleget Field in his honor.
