Dr. Ruth Crone, a 1936 graduate, co-authored "The Silent Storm" and "Willa Cather: The Woman and Her Works." She was an assistant professor of English and journalism at Wisconsin State College, Gustavus Adolphus College, Nebraska State Teachers College, and General Beadle State College, and wrote for the New York Times and The Beatrice Daily Sun. Her awards include an Adult Fiction Award from the National Federation of Presswomen and 21 first place awards from the Nebraska Presswomen.
