Herbert Brokering is a 1942 graduate of BHS. Mr. Brokering received a BA degree in Greek from Wartburg College in 1945 and received an MA Degree in child psychology from Iowa State University. He also earned a BA in divinity in 1950 from the Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary (now Trinity Lutheran Seminary), Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Brokering was active in various ministries, before joining the national staff of the American Lutheran Church. Brokering co-directed the film, "Where Luther Walked" in 1981. During this time, he authored 9 books dealing with the Lutheran faith and wrote a number of lyrics for hymns, anthems, and cantatas. Due to his active role in hosting hundreds of East Germans to visit the USA to learn about our culture, he was given an award for peacemaking by the East German Ministry of Culture.
