Stephanie Perkins is a 1966 graduate of BHS. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in education from Kearney State College. Perkins taught for six years and with her husband, took over ownership of Valentino's restaurant in 1982. She has won awards such as Outstanding Business Woman by the Beatrice Chamber, Nebraska retailer of the year, the Sertoma Service to Mankind Award and a number of Valentino's franchise awards. She has been actively involved in numerous community endeavors such as Main Street, Chambers, her church, and various local boards. Perkins was nominated by Ernest Smethers Jr.
