Maurice Hevelone was born in Blue Springs, Nebraska, and lived in Beatrice since 1906. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1923, and the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1928 and was the life secretary of his law class. He received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1967. He practiced law with the firm Rinaker and Delehant, later Hevelone and McCown, and later was the counsel of the firm. He received a 50-year plaque from the Gage County Bar and the Nebraska Bar Associations in 1978 when he retired from active practices. The Hevelones were generous in promoting arts-related activities. A gift to the Beatrice Educational Foundation by Dorothy Hevelone in memory of her husband Maurice resulted in the construction of the Hevelone Center for Performing Arts, a performance auditorium located at the Beatrice Senior High School.
