Class of 1972
Bill Armstrong served on the Board of Directors and currently works as a Customer Service Representative for Beatrice Concrete but his passion was for service to his hometown. After graduating from Beatrice High School in 1972 and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1976 he returned to Beatrice.
In 2012-13 he was on the House of Orange Athletic Complex Planning Committee. He also served two terms as BHS Athletic Booster Club president.
Armstrong was also active in providing opportunities for young athletes including being a youth sports coach in soccer, basketball, and softball. This included taking teams to the Cornhusker State Games. He was instrumental in founding the YMCA youth soccer program and served as the coordinator from 1994 to 1997 when it grew to include 550 participants. He served on the YMCA Board of Directors from 1995 to 1997. His interest in developing youth soccer continued as he served on the Nitro Soccer Club Board of Directors. He was also active in youth baseball serving on the YRI Board of Directors from 1997-98.
Young people benefitted from his service as president of the St. Paul Lutheran Board of Education for three years. He was also a Teammate for the TeamMates program for three years.
His community benefitted from his involvement with the Gage County United Way Campaign including serving two terms as the Gage County United Way Chairman.
Armstrong is also active in his church serving on the St. John Lutheran Church Endowment/Foundation Committee.
He graduated from BHS in 1972 and lettered three years each in football, basketball and track. He was awarded the Roger Wood Memorial Trophy in football and the Cook Athletic Trophy as Male Athlete of the Year.
