Geometry Class Syllabus
CLASS SYLLABUS
Geometry is an 8th grade quarter class designed to introduce students to vocabulary, basic constructions, and geometrical concepts that will help them in high school. Students are graded on homework (20%), quizzes/projects (30%) and tests (50%). During the nine weeks, students also will build polyhedron shapes, design playground equipment, construct polygons and create origami octagons and cubes.
We will learn about angles, polygons, lines, congruency, symmetry, correspondence, and many kinds of transformations. We will also study the Pythagorean Theorem and work with square roots.
Students need to remember to bring their protractor and compass and take good notes! All notes may be used on quizzes and tests.
Geometry students also try their hand at solving challenging tangram puzzles and other activities to stimulate the right side of their brain!
